The See No Evils are Ian, Paul, Dave and Owen. Like so many bands, they formed after meeting at a jet pack research centre.
Ian (a retired shark tamer) formed the group with Paul and Dave (both ex figure skaters) after a conversation about the purity of 60’s music; whether it was fuzz drenched garage tunes, jangling pop nuggets or stomping soul songs, we noticed the same heart on sleeve passion could be heard.
Owen, who was in charge of Sector 12 overheard and came to tell them that he too loved the music and they should form a 60s sounding band that isn’t too bloody retro…and could they get back to fixing the cooling tank on jet pack number 3.
So they formed The See No Evils (after the Television song) in 2012 and since then have played numerous gigs in their hometown of Leeds, headlined the Oxjam Festival in Sheffield and supported The Pretty Things and The Fleshtones. They also played memorable shows in Liverpool and London’s Denmark Street.
Their demo earned them a rave review from Jumbo Records, and was even included in their employees list of favourite releases of 2012. This same demo can be heard randomly playing at the Brudenell Social Club. With all this happening in just under a year, big things are expected. So don’t be shy and give in to the exuberance and wild psych n roll of……The See No Evils.
You can catch The See No Evils at Firebug’s 9th Birthday party on 26th July.
