Due to the unprecedented worldwide media attention that the Unglamorous project has received we have taken the decision to move the gig this Wednesday 8th March (International Women’s Day) downstairs to the main bar!!
What you need to know:
The bar is open from midday for food and drinks, the event starts at 5pm and live music should be wrapped up by 10.30pm. Our free entry club night starts at midnight and both floors will be open until 4am.
The event is free entry, no ticket is required, but it is a fundraiser for the Unglamorous Sampler album so we will be asking for donations and giving money from selected cocktails to the cause. If you can’t make the event you can donate here!
The downstairs bar is wheelchair accessible via the fire escape on Pocklingtons Walk, there will be an area in front of the sound booth reserved for wheelchairs which is a short distance from the accessible toilet and the lowered accessible serving point. Full Access Information
There is a certain amount of seating in the bar, some with limited view of the stage area. So if you have trouble standing for long periods please arrive early to grab a seat!
The downstairs bar is greater capacity than the upstairs venue so we can welcome more of you but there will be a reserve guest list for performers, crew and guests, so arrive early to avoid disappointment.
Until 8pm under 18s are welcome when accompanied by and adult but after 8pm they will be asked to leave.
All nine of our female bar staff will be working during and after this historic event, we’ve even drafted in one of Firebug’s owners Kat and Duffy’s owner Jackie to meet and greet and help collect donations and last but by no means least, the lovely DJ Gibbs, also a kickass woman, will be DJing upstairs, along with every Tuesday and Wednesday night!
Sadly all our security team are male so if there’s any women out there looking for security work please get in touch, we’d love to balance that out!
We’d love it if you can come along to this event, as always please remember that Firebug has a Safer Spaces policy, some of these incredible women have never been on stage before and we want their first time to be memorable for the right reasons! Everyone is welcome but we want to ensure it is the most welcoming and supportive environment possible, so bring positivity and energy, shout, cheer and give generously to their fundraiser!
Any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch 🙂
