We can’t believe we’ll be celebrating our 18th year this July!!
Since Firebug opened in 2004 we’ve seen and been through so many changes, the biggest one obviously surviving as a business through the pandemic.
Whilst mental health has always been something we have considered with our staff and customers, 18 to 34 year olds are most at risk from poor mental health. We saw some dark times in 2020 and 2021, now seemingly “out of the other side” but the effects of what some people went through will sadly be long term.
The NHS simply doesn’t have the funding to deal with the sheer number of mental health problems effecting young people, even when people are seen by a medical professional, they don’t necessarily receive the support or advice they need.
So, this year for our birthday we’re doing something a bit different, for the whole of July we’re donating 50p from the sale of every Firebug Iced Tea, Bad Boy and Bubbleberry Blast (Mocktail) to @lampleicester LAMP (Leicestershire Action for Mental Health Project).
LAMP are a small local charity who provide independent community mental health advocacy to the people of Leicester and Leicestershire. Basically, they help people to navigate the array of services and help on offer, supporting them through their recovery journey and helping them to be in control of what happens to them. Find out more here: https://www.lampadvocacy.co.uk
We are also offering these three cocktails at Happy Hour prices all the time throughout July, to encourage you to buy them and to say thank you for your custom over the last 18 years, we literally wouldn’t be here without you! Check out our full cocktail menu here: Drinks
We’re not just donating money to LAMP, they will be providing some literature for the end of the bar with information about their services to give staff and customers direct access to information and also raise awareness for the great work that LAMP do locally.
We hope you will be able to join us at some point during July to help celebrate our 18th Birthday and raise money for LAMP, but if you can’t perhaps you could donate directly to them here: https://www.lampadvocacy.co.uk/donate/
