Bottle Rocket Comedy Club return for the Edinburgh Fringe Previews this July with a selection of brilliant up and coming comedy acts…
THURSDAY 14TH JULY
Pete Firman first burst onto our television screens as cheeky Northerner ‘Tufty’ in FIVE’s hit show ‘Monkey Magic’. Since then he has traveled the world meeting his magic heroes and performing his own brand of anarchic magic in Sky One’s ‘The Secret World Of Magic’ and amazed viewers with his ability to perform disgusting tricks with animals, cigarettes and big spiky things in Channel 4’s ‘Dirty Tricks’.
Tom Deacon, the charismatic star of Radio One Sunday nights is fast becoming one of the hottest tickets in UK stand up. After winning the 2007 Chortle Student Comedian of the year and appearing in the Amused Moose New Act Final his comedy career took off, leading him to feature as part of The Comedy Zone, Edinburgh and Beyond and Comedy Centrals Last Comic Standing. Tom made his Edinburgh Festival solo debut in 2009 and can be seen daily on BBC Switch’s 5:19 show.
THURSDAY 21st JULY
Lloyd Langford: A brand new stand-up show featuring jokes about mice and cling film. Finally, a comedian unafraid to tackle the big issues. Expect a heady mix of jokes, facts, stories and trivia. You may have seen Lloyd on Ask Rhod Gilbert (BBC1) or heard him on The Now Show (BBC Radio 4). He’s also one of the eight comedians in Edinburgh this year not to have been on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow. ‘A lugubrious Welshman with a knack of turning out juicy one-liners, Langford is a rising star.’ The Guardian
Steve Day describes himself as Britains only deaf comedian, if there are any others he hasn’t heard. Actually there are a couple of others who have started since he wrote that joke, but it’s only a joke after all. For the past eleven years Steve has been performing to huge laughter around the country and abroad, well they tell him the laughter was huge to humour him, he doesn’t know either way.
SUNDAY 24TH JULY
Ian D Montfort is The Sunderland Psychic who channels dead famous people. “You don’t need to be recently bereaved to have a great time this evening.” Celebrities who may make an appearance include Ernie Wise, Rod Hull, Tony Hart, Jeremy Beadle and William Shakespeare. “An unexpected sensation. A gloriously deadpan pseudo-psychic.” ***** The Telegraph
Peacock and Gamble: When live performances go wrong, step forward Peacock & Gamble (Russell Howard’s Good News, Skins, Doctor Who) with their ramshackle, seat-of-the-pants, emergency comedy night. ‘Pure gold’ – The Guardian ‘Immaculately funny’ – Time Out
SUNDAY 31ST JULY
Andi Osho: In three short years, Andi has made a big splash on the comedy scene, with much talked about appearances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Mock The Week, Tonightly and most recently Ch4’s new topical show, Stand Up For The Week. As well as an established performer on the stand up circuit, Andi is proving to be a popular guest on radio and TV for her cheeky, quick wit and effervescence. Only this year her appearances included several guest psots on Radio 1, Big Brother’s Big Mouth and Little Bother (E4) and The Culture Show (BBC2).
Matt Kirshen: “a rollercoaster of comedy genius” – The Scotsman. Matt Kirshen’s precision wit has already earned him an impressive reputation on the UK comedy circuit winning him an array of awards and press accolades. Matt’s ‘innocent looks belie a sharp, surreal and often gloriously sick mind’ – Metro
