Firebug at the Summer Sundae Fringe Festival

For the last five years Firebug has been an integral part of the Summer Sundae Fringe Festival, bringing locals and festival goers alike some of the most memorable gigs of their lives from the likes of Red Cars Go Faster, Tired Irie, Kyte, The Dirty Backbeats, Minnaars, Maybeshewill and Death Of London. This year is no exception with our ‘Fringe Thursday’ line-up as strong as ever.¬†AUTOHYPE, THESE FURROWS and KIDS IN CARS take to the stage in the downstairs bar on the eve of the main festival, and after the main festivites are over things move upstairs for the after party with MOSCOW YOUTH CULT and DARK DARK HORSE playing more electronic sets, plus DJ sets from super-secret-special-guests.

It doesn’t stop there though – in the week before we’re pleased to bring you some fantastic touring bands, supported by even more incredible local talent.

Monday 9th August – HERRA HIDRO, THEO, November and The Criminal + Guests

Tuesday 10th August – POLAR BEAR CLUB, Without Fire + Guests

Wednesday 11th August – ADABISI SHANK, Buenos Aires, Speaking In Italics + Guests

Cocktails Of The Week

This weeks Cocktail of the week is called ‘Blimey’. It’s based on a recipe developed by the makers of finlandia, but using Cuba Lime and Lemon Vodka Liqueur, fresh blackberries and blackcurrant liqueur to make a fruity short and potent summer drink.
The Shooter of the Week is ‘Baby Banana Cheese Cake’ made from Baileys, Creme De Bananes and Amaretto. Lovely stuff.

Cocktails Of The Week

This weeks¬†Cocktail of the Week has been given the dubiously hilarious title of ‘The Grapefruit Escape‘. Blended this afternoon by Hayley and Jeanette, its made from two flavours of vodka (one of which it takes it’s name from. Grapefruit, obviously), Vanilla Liquer and Cranberry Juice.

The Shooter of the Week is ‘Just Dessert‘, and although the chalk board is some what less enthusiastically designed, we haven’t scrimped on creativity in it’s construction. Advocat, Vanille and White Chocolate Liquer anyone?

Edinburgh Fringe Warm-Ups and More at Firebug

Our resident comedy promoters Bottle Rocket have outdone themselves once again by bringing a whole host of comedians to the ‘bug to warm up for their shows at the Edinburgh fringe. Rob Rouse (1st July) kicks things off with his ‘…and the dog that scared Jesus’ show which was a highlight of last years Leicester comedy festival, then we get three double bills in the form of John Richardson and Kevin Bridges (15th July), Phil Kay and John Robins (21st July), Paul Sinha and Seann Walsh (22nd July) and finally Jack Whitehall and Gary Delaney (25th July).

If thats not quite enough for you, later in the year we’ve got shows from musical comedian Isy Suttie (26th September) who is well known for appearing as ‘Dobby’ in Channel 4’s Peep Show, the adorable and brilliant Josie Long (23rd October) and the awesome Rob Deering (7th November).
